In the all-new fifth episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” on March 28, the 11 queens still standing competed clad in costumes inspired by monster movies. Scream queen Elvira and model Cara Delevingne were the guest judges at this pageant. Which contestant came out on top and was the winner of this challenge on episode 5 of season 11?

And were correct that Ra’Jah O’Hara would be eliminated this week? In, Ra’Jah came perilously close to being bounced but Mercedes Iman Diamond went home instead. Both had to strut their stuff to to the James Brown classic “Living in America.” Mercedes from Minneapolis counted some missteps among her moves. In the end, opted to throw a lifeline to Dallas darling Ra’Jah who, at age 33, is one of the oldest queens still in the competition. Below, check out our minute-by-minute live blog recap of season 11 episode 5, titled “Monster Ball,” to find out what happened Thursday night.

But the real tea that spilled last week is that everyone caught Vanessa Vanjie Mateo and Brooke Lynne Hytes kissing–so it’s been confirmed that the two of them are engaging in the beginnings of a romantic relationship with one another! Their official couples title is “Branjie,” FYI.9:06 p.m. – For this week’s mini challenge, Ru introduced her own new doll line and then asked the girls design themselves up as their own doll. All Star winner Trixie Mattel was on hand to taunt and distract the girls as they applied face for the challenge.

After posing in front a green screen, Ra’Jah pulled out the win, showing that appearing in the bottom on the last two challenges isn’t too deep of a pit to crawl out of.9:12 p.m. – Ru then introduced this week’s maxi challenge, a Monster Ball, where the queens would appear on the runway in three different looks: “Trampy Trick or Treater” with naughty nurse as an example, “Witch Please” which is self-explanatory and “MILF Eleganza” that should embody both beauty and beast. – While getting ready for the ball, Silky was asking a lot of questions about her possible looks.

Yvie Oddly commented that Silky’s been getting a free pass from the judges in the style department, but Silky wasn’t concerned about possibly being in the bottom because she thinks she’ll turn it on during a lip sync.9:21 p.m. – During check-ins with the queens, Ru asked Nina West how she was going to overcome her lack of design skills, highlighting how she underperformed in the design challenge from the premiere. Nina describes her style as campy and over the top, but in order to maintain that and execute something wells he told Ru that she’d tone down the voices in her head that tell her to keep adding. Brooke Lynn’s check-in was the roughest because Ru wasn’t quite understanding her concept of being a pageant runner-up that scalps the winners she’s lost to and creates a crown out of their skulls. Yeah I’m with Ru I don’t get it either.9:29 p.m. – With Plastique Tiara the concern was that as a “pretty queen” she wouldn’t be able to stretch her aesthetic enough into monster territory.

One queen who doesn’t have that problem is Yvie, whose goal for the challenge was to change up her consistent monster looks by being more glamorous than she typically is. Ariel Versace, on the other hand, wanted to maintain her standard aesthetic, but that worried the other girls that she wouldn’t register as scary enough for the parameters of the challenge if she stayed within her, as Scarlet put it, “90s Nickelodeon show” zone.9:45 p.m. – In “Trampy Trick or Treater” A’Keria Davenport was a sexy poker dealer, Vanjie was an angel, Plastique was a Playboy bunny, Scarlet was a sexy pirate, Nina was Seymour the Venus fly trap from “Little Shop of Horrors,” Ra’Jah was a cat, Shuga Cain was a sexy troll doll, Brooke Lynn was a mummy and even walked the runway on point, Ariel was a plastic surgeon and covered in bloody syringes, Yvie was a weird dinosaur doll, and Silky was a tasseled unicorn.9:53 p.m. – In “Witch Please” I loved Vanjie’s glammed out witch evening dress, Plastique’s interpretation of Maleficent, Scarlet’s beachy witch complete with lace pants, Shuga’s Bloody Mary dripping blood look and Yvie’s fashion witch with a white wig. And during the final “MILF Eleganza” walk, I was really into Plastique’s death goddess look with skeleton makeup, Scarlet’s version of the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Nina’s decaying lost woman, Yvie’s elegant voodoo doll and Silky’s red latex she-devil.10:08 p.m. – Based on their looks, the judges selected Nina, Scarlet, Vanjie and Ra’Jah as safe from elimination, leaving the rest on stage for critiques. Plastique got high marks from Cara for her makeup, but Michelle had a hard time connecting to her personality.

Shuga’s troll doll look confused the judges and Elvira cautioned her to never do it again and the entire panel thinks her final look was just messy. Brooke Lynn’s mummy look was her most impressive and while the judges liked Ariel’s syringe look, her other two were not monstrous enough and overall just not well put together. The judges all loved how Yvie could tell stories with her looks and portray things so unique, but they didn’t quite understand her final look. Silky’s final look was her best, but Michelle clocked her for the “cheap” garment-making and Elvira backed her up that horns do not necessarily make a scary look.10:23 p.m.

– Ultimately, Brooke Lynn was the clear winner of the challenge and both Plastique and Yvie were also safe. From the bottom three, Silky was safe while Shuga and Ariel were the bottom two and had to lip sync for their lives. In their performance to “I’m Your Baby Tonight” by Whitney Houston it was a disaster for Ariel when she slipped on her costume’s train and slammed hard on the stage. She didn’t give up though and kept delivering dance moves, as awkwardly slow as they were. Shuga’s moves were more passionate and had energy behind them, giving her the win over Ariel.
