You don't even need a bipod either, you can deploy any time the small stance pic has a hollow wall icon and a stick under your gun- 'C' might not be working because of that control style, you can find the key to re-bind in - Configure - Controls - Weapons - Deploy Weapon.There a few different rest/deploy types as well- simply walking up to some cover usually gives you 'resting' (visible as the white box) which gives a small bonus, while deploying without a bipod gives a larger bonus, and finally deploying a weapon with a bipod gives the largest.MARKSMAN IS NOT NEEDED TO USE BIPODS. Good god, do half these people even PLAY this game?You don't need the DLC.

You do not need to be prone.The only thing you need, is to be close enough to an appropriate object, whether it's a wall, a sandbag, the hood of a car. It doesn't seem to work if you're in an intermediate stance position (like crouch then hitting the stance adjustment to lean slightly further down etc) but if you're full prone, normal crouch, or normal standing position, and there is an appropriately placed object, you can brace against it. If you have a bipod, you will deploy it, if you do not, you will simply lean in and rest your weapon on the object (bipod is preferable because you'll be slightly raised up and can see better).Note: I regularly use this function, ignore these other guys, most of them have no idea what the hell they're talking about.
