On your way out the gate, go ahead and pick-up the Consription of the Horde(?) quest which sends you into the Barrens anyhow.Follow the road directly west until you cross over the Southfury by way of the bridge and hand-in the recommendation letter quick. Continue west up the hill and along the road. Just as you reach the top of the hil you will notice two buildings off to your right set against the mountains. Karnal Fiss is here. Your trial of fire awaits.Call of Fire 1.1.
The path up to this next quest giver is the thinest I have seen in the game yet. Walk carefully.As Fiss has just politely explained, you are now ready to start playing with fire! Though, unlike before, this right of passage actually involves a bit of footwork and elbow grease to claim.
First you will need to carry the Torch of the Dormant Flame to one Telf Joolam, a troll shaman high on the peak of a mountain in southern DUROTAR (NOT the Barrens!). From Fiss' place, hit the road once more and head east back down the hill and over the Southfury bridge.
Turn to your right. You should be facing south now.
Follow the EASTERN bank of the Southfury until you come to a rather large mountain that, lo-and-behold, encompasses most of The Den and the Valley of Trials. What you're looking for is a path up the mountain marked by a small blue stone that resembles a miniature obelisk (36,57). Take the path 'til it splits and veer to your right. Watch your footing here as the trail winds you around the mountain a bit and becomes rather narrow at more than a few points. After some mild hiking you will have reached the summit, and your goal: Telf Joolam. You're one step closer to starring in a re-make of Firestarter.Call of Fire 1.2Nothing in life is free - at least, nothing good.
Like many before him, good ol' Joolam is both untrusting and lazy. You'll need to track down a couple reagents for him to properly prepare your next sapta. Fear not though, the worst part of this little collection is the running back and forth.Fire TarDrops off pretty much any razormane caster; Mystics and Geomancers are closest, in the Barrens @ Thorn Hill 73,18 (just slightly north east of x-roads).Reagent PouchHead out the back gate of Razor Hill located at 54,40 (right next to the Warlock & Demon trainers). Head up the hill going directly north and continue on until you see a cave. This is your destination, Dustwind (53.29 Durotar)- NOT Skull Rock - Cave.
Inside kill Neophytes until the pouch drops. Got mine on kill number eleven.
Pretty quick and easy. Now to hoof it all the way back to Joolam.Call of Fire 1.3Go past Joolam and stand before the giant obelisk.
Drink your Fire Sapta. Continue up to the top of the mountain.
Don't worry about the many smaller fire elementals roaming the outer edge of the mountain top. They won't get involved. The Minor Manifestation of Fire mob you need to defeat is level 12 and non-hostile. Take your time readying up and then go to it. At level 11 I beat him down in all of 6 seconds. Hand in the quest at the brazier, transforming your Torch of the Dormant Flame into a Torch of the Eternal Flame.
Time to bring it back to Fiss and collect us some fire power, baby.Call of Fire 1.4Go see Fiss. Collect your Fire Totem, along with a new spell - Searing Totem - and your XP. Throw back some brew, drop the new totem and /dance your butt off.
